ASTM A334 Grade 6 steel pipe is a high-strength, low-temperature carbon steel pipe with a maximum carbon content of 0.30%, a manganese content of 0.29-1.06%, a minimum tensile strength of 415MPa (60ksi), and a yield strength of 240MPa (35ksi).
This steel pipe is mainly used in liquefied natural gas facilities, polar engineering and refrigeration technology, and is suitable for extremely low temperature environments.
ASTM A334 Grade 6 pipe is suitable for cryogenic services. The specifications for this pipe include nominal wall thickness pipe as well as several grades of ferritic steel. There are nine different grades of A334 pipe numbered 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. The ASTM A 334 standard covers welded carbon steel pipe, seamless thick wall pipe, and alloy steel pipe. Both welded and seamless pipes are specially treated to control their microstructure. To meet the specified requirements, these pipes are subjected to various tests such as tensile tests, hydrostatic tests, impact tests, etc.
Specifications:
These pipes are available in sizes ranging from 4 inches to 26 inches in the following specifications: 20, 30, 40, Extra Thick (XH), Standard, XXH and above, 80, 100, 140, 120, 160. The end connections for line pipes include threaded, screwed, beveled, and plain. CDW/Preformed/ ERW/Welded are types of ASTM A334 Grade 6 pipes. These pipes are available in the form of rectangular tubes/pipes, square tubes/pipes, coils, hydraulic tubes, U-shaped tubes, etc. Customers can buy the pipes in various lengths such as double random length, single random length, custom sizes, and required length. These pipes are fitted with plastic caps at the ends for protection.
The chemical composition of ASTM A334 Grade 6 steel pipe is designed to ensure good mechanical properties at low temperatures and sufficient toughness for reliable service under extreme conditions.

For each reduction of 0.01 % carbon below 0.30 %, an increase of 0.05 % manganese above 1.06 % will be permitted to a maximum of 1.35 % manganese. |
For Grade 1 or Grade 6 steels, it is not permitted to provide alloying grades for any elements other than those expressly required. However, it is permitted to add elements necessary for the deoxidation of the steel.
