Stainless steel 6Mo / 1.4529
The austenitic stainless steel 6Mo was developed on the basis of alloy 904l/1.4539. However, the molybdenum content at 6Mo is increased to 6.5%. 6Mo has excellent general corrosion resistance and improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Resistance to stress corrosion cracking is also improved. It is often referred to as super austenitic stainless steel.
1.4529 is characterized by:
Improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking compared to other austenitic stainless steels
Excellent general corrosion resistance with oxidizing and reducing media
Less tendency to form intermetallic phases compared to similar steels with only 18% nickel
Very good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
Pressure vessels approved for temperatures between -196 and 400 °C

1.4529 mainly has the following applications:
Concentration and crystallization equipment for the production of salt by evaporation
Condenser piping and piping systems in power plants with heavily polluted cooling water
Pump rods for oil delivery systems
Evaporators, heat exchangers, tank liners, etc. and phosphoric acid production
Tanks for transporting corrosive chemicals
Distribution systems and coolers for sulfuric acid plants
Fire Extinguishing Systems, Seawater Filtration, Hydraulic and Injection Systems for Offshore Technology
Flexible pipes in the marine industry
The material is thermoformed at temperatures between 1200 and 900°C and then rapidly quenched in water or air.
Annealing is performed at 1200°C.
After thermoforming, heat treatment is recommended for optimum corrosion resistance.
